Erwin Arias is a photographer based in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned a Ph.D. in biomedical science from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and published several peer-reviewed research articles on the mechanisms that enable communication between neurons before transitioning out of the laboratory. Today, he works independently as a portrait and automotive photographer. His distinctive blend of technical expertise and creative vision gives his work a signature style and fresh perspective.

My philosophy

 

Making portrait photography a smooth and stress-free experience

Real smiles and the people producing them generally come across as attractive, genuine, and trustworthy. Working as a portrait photographer in St. Louis, I’ve seen people smile the most when they feel comfortable in front of the lens. For this reason, I designed my process to be as smooth, fun, and stress-free as possible, so you can relax and enjoy your session.

NATURAL LOOKING PORTRAITS, YET SOPHISTICATED


My editing style is natural and avoids excessive retouching and oversaturated colors. I aim to create deep shadows and bright highlights while preserving important details throughout the image. I shoot with Nikon mirrorless cameras and a combination of NIKKOR and Viltrox lenses. I edit with Adobe Lightroom and use industry-standard denoising tools from Topaz Labs when needed. Generative AI is not part of my process. Every photograph I deliver is authentic and true to what was captured through my camera.

I’m committed to quality and approach every creative project with the same care and attention I give to my own personal work. I deliver only images that meet my professional standards, taking great care at every stage, from the initial capture through post-production. I handle each client’s photographs and personal information personally and ethically. After I deliver your final images, the digital negatives from your session are stored securely in a permanent archive.

HOW IT WORKS

 

STEP 01

 

booking

 

Choose a time and date that works for your, customize your session, and follow the instructions.

STEP 02

 

planning

 

After booking, you will be asked to schedule a phone consultation at a time and date that is convenient for you prior to the day of your session. During this call, we’ll discuss your vision and finalize the details of your session.

STEP 03

 

production

 

We will meet at the selected location to capture your images. Each session is timed to provide flexibility for exploring different poses, backgrounds, and outfit changes while allowing for the unexpected moments. After the session, I will handle the editing process, including color correction, exposure adjustments, and cropping before exporting the final photographs as high-resolution JPG files.

STEP 04

 

Delivery

 

Your photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery within three to five business days. Each image will receive careful color correction and exposure adjustments. If you need your photographs sooner, select the expedited 24-hour delivery add-on at checkout.
